MAINTENANCE

COOLING SYSTEM

1. Check the fan belt tension regu-

larly. Adjust, If required.

. Check the coolant level in the ra-

diator fins always clean.

. Replace the radiator cap with a

genuine cap only, if required.

4.  Do  not  remove  the  thermostat

but replace with a new one, if re-

quired.

5. Do not change the radiator water

often.

WINTER OPERATION WITH DIE-

SEL FUEL

Special demands are placed on the

cold behaviour (temperature limit val-

ue of the filtrability) for winter oper-

ation. Suitable fuels are available at

filling stations in winter.

For  engines  with  common

rail  injection,  the  mixing  of

petroleum and adding of ex-

tra  low  additives  is  not  per-

missible.

IMPORTANT

At low ambient temperatures paraf-

fin discharges can lead to blockages

in the fuel system and cause operat-

ing faults. Below 0 °C ambient tem-

perature use winter diesel (down to

-0 °C) (filling stations provide this

in good time before the cold season

starts).

Special diesel fuels can be used

for arctic climates to -44 °C.

▶

GENERAL

Never  operate  the  engine

without  coolant,  even  for  a

short time!

CAUTION

In liquid-cooled engines, the coolant

must be conditioned and monitored,

otherwise the engine could be dam-

aged by:

Corrosion
Cavitation
Freezing
Overheating
