HAIRDRESSER’S HINTS

Volume at the roots:

Once your hair is dried and smoothed, again
place the appliance at the roots, under the lock to
be styled, allow the straightening plates to pene-
trate fully into the thickness of the hair and start
to smooth the lock in the opposite direction to
the hair roots along about 1.2 inches (Fig. 17),
then hold the appliance just above the scalp for 5

seconds (Fig. 18) and finally slide the appliance

down to the end of the lock (Fig. 19). To give volume to your full head of hair, it is essential to apply this tip to each lock of hair.

A smooth and full-bodied fringe:

Take the pre-dried but still damp fringe whole in one hand, place the ap-
pliance at the hair roots, under the lock and smooth the hair firstly verti-
cally above your head (Fig. 20), then slide the appliance slowly to the end
of the lock.
If you want to curve your fringe in towards your face, again take the lock
and use your other hand to place it between the straightening plates
along the curve of the appliance (Fig. 21). Hold this position for 5 seconds
to fix the rounded form of your hair.

The tips of your hair rounded inward or outward:

You can give this movement to your entire head of hair or to just a few
locks. The appliance must be placed under the lock.
Proceed with straightening of the chosen lock and once you get to the
end, block the tip of your hair with the other hand or using a comb (Fig.
22), pushing the lock down onto the rounded base of the appliance.
To give a more pronounced curve to the lock, tilt the appliance further in-
wards.

To shape rounded tips outwards (Fig. 23), proceed in identical fashion, but with the appliance above the lock of hair.

Smoothing mid-length layered hair: (Fig. 24-25)

Here it is best to gradually separate your hair into 5 sections.

Section 1:

Start by smoothing lengths over the nape of the neck.

- Use a comb to separate the hair horizontally, from the base of one ear
round to the other (Fig. 26).
- Attach the rest of your hair using a hair clip.
- Separate the hair over the back of your neck into 3 vertical strands
(Fig. 27):

Start by straightening the side locks and then the lock in the middle.
- Release the clip and again separate your hair as described below in
section 2.

Section 2: Smoothing hair on the back of your head.

- Separate the hair horizontally, from the base of one ear round to the other (Fig. 28)
- Attach the rest of your hair and proceed as in section 1.

Section 3: Straighten the sides of your head of hair.

- Separate your hair vertically from the "natural" parting going down
to your ear (Fig. 29).
- Attach the locks on the top of your head and straighten your hair
on each side of your face using the basic technique.
- Release the clip and finish by straightening the locks on the top of
your head (Fig. 30).

Smoothing mid-length layered hair: (Fig. 31)

- Pre-dry your hair using the hair dryer function,

with your head tilted

forward.
- Keep your head down and straighten lock by lock

(Fig. 32), starting

with the fringe, gradually continue straightening of the side locks, then the
top of your head, and finish off on the back of the neck.
- To obtain a smooth but full-bodied hair style, use this technique, placing
the appliance under the lock of hair.
- To obtain a smooth, flat hair style, the appliance must be above the lock
of hair.

.

STRAIGHTENING A SHORT SQUARE CUT WITH LAYERED ENDS
(Fig. 33)

- Pre-dry your hair using the appliance’s dryer function.
- Vertically separate your hair into 2 parts, from the top of your head
down to the base of your neck (Fig. 34).
- Start by straightening a first part on the back of the neck, placing the
appliance outside the lock and making a root to tip movement.
- Start the operation again until you obtain perfect straightening on both
sides of the back of your neck.
- Continue with the locks on either side of your face and finish with the
top of your head (and possibly the fringe).

- To obtain a smooth but full-bodied hair style, use this technique, pla-
cing the appliance under the lock of hair.
- To obtain a smooth, flat hair style, the appliance must be above the
lock of hair.
- To keep an extremely straight, stiff end, without a rounded effect (Fig.
35), slide the appliance down to the tips without tilting the appliance,
hold the position for 5 seconds then let the lock out gently (Fig. 36).

You can of course use your usual beauty and hairdressing products (rinses, masks, mousses, lacquers, styling gels, etc.)

Caution! Never use the appliance combined with a (permanent) chemical hair relaxer product. You would severely da-
mage your hair!
