Now deselect Preset 1. Panharmonium
remembers that Spectrum 1 was playing
when the preset was selected, so keeps
Spectrum 1 on, but since deselecting
a preset always results in the live panel
becoming active, you hear Spectrum 1,
but with the live panel’s Center Frequency
and Bandwidth.
While this may, at first glance, seem
complicated, if you think about it, it’s actually
totally consistent with the
“Last one wins”
rule. It’s also moderately likely that you may
never even encounter this situation, but if you
do, you’ll at least know what’s going on.
A FINAL NOTE:
If a preset is saved without
a spectrum selected, when that preset is
recalled the current spectrum selection (either
on or off) will not change. This allows you
to choose a spectrum first, and then recall a
preset and overlay it on top while the spectrum
continues playing uninterrupted (provided,
of course, that preset was saved without a
spectrum selected). This “non-interaction”
between presets and spectra can also provide
powerful variations when understood and
used to your advantage.
