Preparing your UltraLink hardware 

Installing the PCIe Transmitter Card 

Remove SFP module if installed. 

Before installing the transmitter card, make sure to remove 

the SFP module. (For more information, see 

Removing an 

SFP Module

). 

 

 

Choose an expansion slot. 

Most systems have different types of expansion slots. 

Choose a PCIe E® x8 or x16 slot. The computer’s system 

manual should identify the location of each type of 

expansion slot in your system. 

 

 

Insert the Transmitter Card. 

  1. Position the PCIe transmitter card over the expansion 

slot. 

  2. Push the card in firmly and evenly until it’s fully     

seated in the slot. 

  3. Secure the bracket of the PCIe transmitter card to the 

frame of your system. 

The PCIe transmitter card is now installed. Before restarting 

the system, connect the necessary devices to the card. 

 

 

Installing multiple cards 

The computer may support the installation of multiple PCIe 

transmitter cards. 

 
 WARNING: To avoid damaging cards, always insert them 

as straight as possible into the slot. Don’t rock cards from 

side to side. Don’t force the card into the slot.
