4.10 Connecting the EUT
Connect the equipment under test (EUT) with the connecting lines to the front-panel
single-phase SCHUKO socket outlet (EUT 1) or the three-phase CEE outlet (EUT 2)
on the R&S ENV432. The maximum permissible constant current is equal to 16 A for
the SCHUKO socket outlet and 32 A for the CEE outlet.
The user must ensure that the cross-sectional area of the double-insulated connecting
cables is sufficient for the powerconsumption of the EUT. For operation on the CEE
outlet with a maximum permissible constant current of 32 A, a line cross-section of at
least 4 mm
2
is required. The cable's outer diameter should be at least 22 mm to
ensure adequate strain relief.
An appropriate CEE connector for establishing connecting lines is part of the
equipment supplied.
In order to mimic the influence of the user's hand while measuring the disturbance
voltage, usage of an "artificial hand" is required for EUTs that are normally held in the
hand. The artificial hand consists of a metal foil that must be connected to the RF
reference ground via an RC combination. The RC combination is a series connection
of a 220 pF capacitor C and a 510
Ω resistor R that is built into the R&S ENV432. It
can be connected to the EUT via the 4 mm banana jack on the front (ARTIFICIAL
HAND).
