Use Custom Antenna
Users can mount their own antennas to the AREG waveguide ports instead of using
the antennas included by default. For example, users could use higher gain antennas,
or antennas with a connected waveguide extension tube for mechanical reasons. If
using custom antennas or antenna assemblies, the user needs to provide the total
antenna gain (i.e. antenna gain minus attenuation of any connected waveguide sec-
tions) of the TX and RX antennas to the AREG to ensure that EIRP and RCS calcula-
tions are carried out correctly.
If this checkbox is activated, you can define the antenna gain for transmitting and
receiving antenna according to the properties of a customer specific antenna.
Remote command:
[:SOURce<hw>]:AREGenerator:RADar:ANTenna:CUSTom[:STATe]
AREG Antenna Gain TX
Displays the antenna gain of transmitting antenna. If
on page 61 is activated, the antenna gain can be set to a customer specific value.

Remote command:
[:SOURce<hw>]:AREGenerator:RADar:ANTenna:REG:GAIN:TX
AREG Antenna Gain RX
Displays the antenna gain of receiving antenna. If
is activated, the antenna gain can be set to a customer specific value.

Remote command:
[:SOURce<hw>]:AREGenerator:RADar:ANTenna:REG:GAIN:RX
Air Gap from DUT to AREG
Specifies the air gap between DUT and AREG.
Note:
Changing the air gap does not change the distance of the simulated object. The
distance shown in the AREG display is the sum of the internal distance in the AREG,
which is fixed and the air gap setting.
The air gap setting is pre-set to the value which was set during ordering the R&S
AREG.
If you want to change the air gap in your measurement (e.g. anechoic chamber to test
in is larger), adjust the value in this setting, such that the R&S AREG can carry out the
calculations of measured EIRP values, effective distances, and RCS values of your
simulated targets correctly.
If you do an instrument [Preset], the air gap value is not changed.
If you do a "Factory Preset", the value is reset to the value at time of ordering.
