Fixed Symbol Length
Fixed Symbol Length helps prevent truncations and increases data integrity by
verifying that only one symbol length is accepted. Specifies the exact number of
characters that the code reader recognizes (this number excludes check character,
start, and stop characters). The code reader ignores any symbology that does not
match the specified length.
Full ASCII Set
Must be enabled when reading characters outside the standard character set
(0…9, A…Z, and so on). You must know in advance whether to use the Full
ASCII Set option. Since Full ASCII Set requires two code words to encode one
character, it is less efficient. Standard Code 39 encodes 43 characters; 0…9,
capital letter (A…Z), minus symbol, plus symbol, forward slash, space, decimal
point, dollar sign, and percent symbol. When Full ASCII Set is enabled, the code
reader can read the full ASCII character set, from 0…255.
Code 128
Code 128 is a smaller symbology useful in applications with tight spots and high
security needs. A dense alphanumeric symbology. It encodes all 128 ASCII
characters, it is continuous, has variable length, and uses multiple element widths
measured edge-to-edge.
