Draw the Burr
1.
Remove the cabinet scraper from the vise and place it flat
on a flat, stable work surface. Make sure the scraper is
fully supported.
2.
Orient the Sharpening Tool so that the hardened steel
burnishing rod is parallel to the face of the scraper. The area
marked “3 Burr Draw (Faces)” will be 90° to the honed edge
of the scraper.
3.
Tilt the Sharpening Tool slightly away from the face of the
cabinet scraper. Then, maintaining downward pressure,
slowly slide the hardened steel burnishing rod along the face
of the cabinet scraper several times to draw out the burr on
the edge. Take care not to let the scraper edge contact or dig
into the blue plastic face of the tool.

Turn the Burr
1.
Secure the cabinet card scraper back in the vise, with the face
that has the drawn burr oriented away from you.
2.
Position the Sharpening Tool so that the angled face -- marked
“4 Burr Turn (Edge)” -- is against the face of the scraper that
doesn’t have the burr.
3.
Keeping the angled face of the tool against the scraper, press
down and slowly slide the hardened steel burnishing rod along
the edge of the scraper to turn the burr on the opposite face
into a hook-shaped cutting edge. Make several passes.
4.
Carefully check the cutting edge. If necessary, repeat Step 3
until the burr is turned.
