If the "safety edge" function is activated and the
operator's safety edge is actuated, the connected
drives stop as quickly as possible.
If the safety edge is actuated while the drives are
being moved, the system can be freed up by
moving it in the opposite direction at reduced
speed.
If the safety edge is actuated while at a standstill,
the safety edge will need to be released again
before moving the drives.
Depending on the design and manufacturer, safety edges can have
different properties.
When selecting a safety edge, pay attention to the following prop-
erties:

Actuation path
n
Overrun distance
n
Terminating resistor
n
Switching resistor
The basic height of the safety edge when not actuated is
marked

In order for the safety edge to be triggered, it has to be deformed
by the actuation path

. The safety edge is not active until this
has happened.
After the safety edge has been actuated, it can be deformed by the
overrun distance

Material damage to the safety edge!
If the deformation of the safety edge is greater
than the overrun distance
“n”
, there is a risk of
material damage and malfunctions on the safety
edge.
– Be aware that not all safety edges have an
overrun distance.
– Replace damaged safety edges.
The overrun distance of the safety edge must be
greater than the stopping distance of the drive/
lifting column.
