IS-IS Configuration Guide Setting IS-IS Interface Parameters
SNP Authentication
This type of authentication controls the processing of SNPs (both CSNPs and PSNPs). When the router receives an
SNP, it authenticates it by checking the password (which is the same as the password set using the
isis set
interface password
command).
To configure SNP authentication, enter the following command in Configure mode:
15.5 SETTING IS-IS INTERFACE PARAMETERS
The interfaces on the RS have default IS-IS parameter values. These parameters control various IS-IS functions and
features on the interfaces, such as their operating level, metrics, and timers.
To set parameters for an IS-IS interface, enter the following command in Configure mode:

15.5.1 Setting the Interface Operating Level
The default operating level for the router and its interfaces is Level 1-and-2. If you change the default, note that the
operating level of the router’s IS-IS interfaces should be synchronized with the operating level of the router. (For
