Reference: Managing Appliances with BMC
The SteelHead CX xx80 and Interceptor (IC) 9800 appliances include Baseboard Management Controller
(BMC) support.
The BMC monitors the physical state of the appliance, it tracks system and network watchdogs, error
logs, and sensors. The sensors of a BMC measure internal physical variables such as temperature, power
settings, voltage levels, and fan speeds. You can configure email alerts in the web interface for activity
detected outside specified limits. The BMC also allows you to start, restart, and turn off the appliance
remotely.
Important:
The SteelHead CX 580, CX 780, and CX 3080 appliances use the primary port as the BMC port for
communication. The AUX port does not support BMC communication on these appliances.
Important:
The SteelHead CX 5080, CX 7080, and IC 9800 appliances use the RJ45 port (located above the USB
ports) as the BMC port for communication. The PRI/AUX ports do not support BMC communication on these
appliances.
