Description
Master-slave operation (MS)
The cabinet is wired for MS operation by default.
The MS wiring is done on the analog interface of all units that
shall be included. For the master it doesn‘t matter if there is only
one slave or three.
The MS here is defined as current-driven. It means, that the slave
units all work in external remote control, i.e. by analog interface,
and the set values of voltage and power are set to fixed levels
and only the current is controlled by the master unit. The master is
completely controllable on the control panel or via digital interface.
When switching the DC input of the master on, all units start draw-
ing current from the source, so the units act as one big system.
However, the master only show set values and actuals of itself, so
the total current or power intake has to be translated every time.
For example, if you use all four units in the MS and you want to
set 100A, the master has to be set to I = 100A ÷ number of units
= 25A, in order to make the whole system draw 100A and given
that all units are operating.
Trouble-shooting oscillation
In order to suppress possible oscillation between the e-load cabi-
net and the source (e.g. switching mode power supply), there are
capacitors included in the scope of delivery. There are four pieces,
one for each load unit. They can be mounted as required and it
is recommended to mount them directly on the copper bars on
the rear of the unit, preferably on the centre bolts of the DC input.
