Cooling Fan
The spindle cooling fan is located opposite end of the spindle from the chuck. To gain access
to the cooling fan;
Remove the four screws
which retain the outer cover.
Remove and set aside the
spindle cover.
Check for oil, dust and debris that
could clog the fan vents. Clean as
needed.
Note: Photo shows newer HSD ES 951
spindle, some machines will have the
HSD ES 939 but all locations will be
the similar.
Tools
The tools should be checked daily for;
Dirt or dust buildup on the tool holders. Look for dark spots on the surface of the
tool holder, this will indicate a buildup of residue.
Metal cuttings lodged in the tool or the collet.
o
Metal cuttings lodged in the tool will cause “Halos” or circular scratches in
paint and stainless steel. Remove any that collect in the collet or drill
flutes.
o
Be sure that the collet is free of debris when changing the tools. Debris
between the elastic sections can cause poor clamping of the tool.
