Maintenance
UV scanner
Periodic maintenance and cleaning
Clean the viewing window and sight pipe (if used) when nec-
essary.
Remove the UV scanner and use a soft, clean cloth to remove
accumulated contaminants from the UV radiation sensor tube
glass envelope.
Ultraviolet sensing tubes have a life expectancy of 40,000
hours of continuous use within the ambient temperature and
voltage ratings. Replace the UV scanner, at approptiate inter-
vals.
Keep the flame detection system adjusted for the smoothest,
most reliable operation as recommended by the burner manu-
facturer.
When necessary, clean the UV scanner by using the following
procedure:
Loosen the two screws 1)(Fig. 56) holding the UV scanner 3)
mounting bracket 2).
To remove, twist the bracket and detector.
Clean the viewing window with a soft, clean cloth.
Insert the UV scanner into the mounting hole, and to realign it,
twist against the mounting screws.
Tighten the two mounting screws.
Combustion
Adjust the burner if the combustion values found at the beginning
of the operation do not comply with the regulations in force, or do
not correspond to good combustion. Record the new combustion
values; they will be useful for subsequent comparison.
WARNING
Be extremely careful while troubleshooting the
detector; line voltage is present on some of the
terminals when power is on.
Open the master switch to disconnect power
before removing or installing the detector.
