3. Installation Steps:
Assembling Your Bike
3.1 Front Wheel Assembly:
•
Make sure your fork is not backwards.
•
Place the front wheel axle into the fork dropouts.
•
Install the quick release skewer.
The narrow part of the cone springs should face inward
.
•
Rotate to tighten and then hand tighten the axle skewer quick release arm. Make sure the
wheel is fully secure.
WARNING
◆
IT IS VITAL THAT THE QUICK RELEASES HAVE BEEN TIGHTENED. IF THEY ARE NOT
PROPRRLY ALIGNED, THE WHEEL MAY COME OFF, CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE BIKE OR
YOURSELF.
3.2 Handlebar and Stem Assembly:
▪
Check the routing of the cables again before installing stem with handlebars. You may need to
flip your handlebars for proper routing. Slowly slide the stem onto the fork steerer tube. (D).
▪
Place the top cap on the top and carefully tighten the compression bolt to the fork until you feel
some resistance when rotating the stem. (the order is very important). The fork should turn
smoothly, but it should not shift up and down relative to the headtube.
o
Pull the fork up so it is properly seated against the bearings and push the stem down to
increase pressure on the headset while tightening the bolt with the hex wrench.
o
Tighten the compression bolt until it the fork is secure. The fork should turn smoothly, but
should not shift up and down relative to the headtube.
o
Once top cap is tightened, align stem and tighten pinch bolts. (Figure E) Please refer to
the Detailed Torque Specifications in section 2.3 below to ensure that the bolts are
torqued to the specified range.
▪
When securing the stem handlebar clamp, tighten each bolt in a cross pattern. The gap at each
bolt should be the same size. Please check your stem for Torque ratings and refer to section 3.5.
