More on Offset when Making Copies

‰

If narrow paper is fed through the fusing unit continuously, the temperature at the 
ends of the rollers becomes higher than at the center.

¾

This is because paper is not drawing heat away from the ends.

‰

Then, if a wider paper is used soon after, the higher temperature could cause 
offset to appear at the sides of the copy.

¾

This is very likely when making several copies of an original with many 
pages using the rotation sort feature (sets of copies are made with SEF and 
LEF paper alternately – the ends of the rollers heat up when making a copy 
on SEF paper, then offset will appear when making the next set on LEF 
paper).

The machine deals with this as explained on the slide.

However, note that if A6 is detected, the temperature increases 10

C as 

explained earlier (Thick paper from the By-pass Tray).
