First-Copy Time
The Aficio 1515MF’s first-copy times from both
the platen and document feeder, at 8.1 seconds
and 8.5 seconds, respectively, are competitive
among similarly equipped short- and long-edge
feed models tested to date. First-copy time mea-
sures the time it takes for the first copy to be
produced after the Start button is pressed.
Document Feeding Efficiency
The unit’s document feeding efficiency for
letter-size originals is competitive among simi-
larly equipped short- and long-edge feed mod-
els to date for both single-sided originals to
single-sided copies (1:1 mode) and single-sided
originals to double-sided copies (1:2 mode),
at 106.7% and 76.7%, respectively. The docu-
ment feeding speed is 16.0 originals per minute
(opm) in 1:1 mode and 11.5 opm in 1:2 mode.
Document feeding speed is determined by mea-
suring the time it takes for 10 original sheets to
be fed through the feeder. Document feeding
efficiency is determined by the percentage of
the unit’s rated speed at which the document
feeder feeds originals. The closer the rate is to
100%, or if it exceeds 100%, the more efficient
the document feeder.
Copy Efficiency
The Aficio 1515MF’s copy efficiency is among
the highest for similarly equipped short- and
long-edge feed models tested to date in 1:1
mode, at 97.2%, and competitive in 1:2 mode,
at 59.8%. BLI tests a unit’s copy efficiency

Efficiency is tested using a 10-page document. BLI
obtains the overall efficiency for each copy mode by
averaging the efficiency ratings (derived by dividing the
tested speed of the device by the rated speed and then
multiplying by 100) for each run length.
