3.2 Using the Tare Function
You can use the tare function for deducting extra weight (such as medical equipment) in a weighing operation.
Use the following steps to use the tare function.
1. With the scale set to
0.0
, place the extra load on the scale. The display shows the weight with the Gross
(G annunciator) lit.
2. Press the
TARE
key. The display returns to 0.0 and
the Net (N annunciator)
appears on the left side of
the display.
If you remove the load from the scale. The weight of the load appears with a negative symbol to the left
of it.
3. Ask the person to step onto the scale with the load. The display then shows the person’s weight without
the weight of the tare included.
4. The weight of the tare remains stored in memory, so you can continue to weigh people who are carrying
the same tare weight.
5. To cancel the tare weight, press the
TARE
key a second time. The tare weight is cancelled and the scale
returns to the gross mode/weight when the scale is turned off.
