Use the following procedures to RheBuild a 5700 Series Pneumatic Actuator.
Model 5701
Note: Not all of the parts in the RheBuild Kit are
used in the 5701 Actuator. Parts used in 5701:
coupling sleeve, #4-40 hex nuts, coupling pins, pin
retainer and #4-40 screws. These parts only need to
be replaced if damaged or lost. They are not wear
parts.
The #4-40 screws and washers are used in
mounting the position sensing switch.
If the coupling sleeve needs to be replaced, refer to
Figure 1 and proceed as follows:
1. Push the pin retainer sleeve back away from the
valve to expose the coupling pin.
2. Using a punch of smaller diameter than the
coupling pin, push the pin out of the the coupling
sleeve.
3. Remove the valve by unscrewing the two hex
screws that hold the valve to the mounting plate.
Slip the valve out of the coupling sleeve.
4. Slip off the pin retainer sleeve.
5. Repeat Step 2 on remaining coupling pin.
6. Slip the new coupling sleeve onto the actuator
shaft. Attach the sleeve to the shaft with a coupling
pin. The pin must go all the way in and be flush
with both sides of the sleeve.
7. Slip the pin retainer sleeve, over the coupling
sleeve.
8. Slip the valve shaft into the coupling sleeve.
Attach the coupling sleeve to the shaft using
another coupling pin. Move the pin retainer sleeve
to cover the coupling sleeve.
9. Remount the mounting plate.
Model 5703 and 5704
Note: All of the RheBuild Kit parts can be used to
repair these units.
The #4-40 screws and washers are used in
mounting the position sensing switch.
To replace the coupling sleeve, refer to Figure 1
and follow Steps 1-9 in Model 5701 section.
To replace the pawl and ratchet wheel, refer to
Figures 1 and 2 and proceed as follows:
1. Remove the cover by unscrewing the two #4-40
screws on the actuator front plate.
2. Remove the front plate by unscrewing the two
hex screws on the front plate. Pull the front plate
off the shaft.
3. Slip the pin retainer off the ratchet wheel.
4. Use a punch of smaller diameter than the pin to
push the pin out of the ratchet wheel.
5. Pull the ratchet wheel off the shaft.
6. Use a small flat blade screwdriver to snap the
e-ring off the pin on which the pawl is mounted.
7. Disconnect the pawl from the ratchet reversing
spring and pull the pawl off the pin.
8. Slip the new pawl onto the pin. Reinsert the
spring into the hole at the top of the pawl.
9. Snap the e-ring onto the pin to secure the pawl.
10. Slip the new ratchet wheel onto the shaft. Line
up the hole in the wheel with the hole in the shaft,
and slip the pin in so that it is flush with both sides
of the wheel.
11. Replace the front plate and the top cover.
