Safety Guidelines

Use the appliance
• according to its intended use
• in good condition
• with due regard to safety and risk of danger.

Note that the appliance is exclusively for use in the
applications detailed in these installation instructions
(see 2 Technical Data). Any other use will not be
considered to comply with requirements and would
invalidate the warranty.
4.
Please take note that any assembly, commissioning,
servicing and adjustment work may only be carried
out by authorized persons.
5.
Immediately rectify any malfunctions which may
influence safety.

Technical Data
Note:
The mobile backflow preventer BFW112 in accordance
with DIN 14346 is connected to existing standpipes or
pillar hydrants to take water for fire fighting from the
pipeline network. It prevents water from flowing back into
the drinking water supply network as a result of back
siphonage or back pressure, if the pressure in this
network is lower than that in the pipeline laid for
firefighting purposes.
Note:
In addition, pressure surges do not occur in the network,
which helps to prevent burst pipes.

Assembly
4.1 Installation Guidelines
•
Note flow direction
•
Use both handles when assembling on hydrant/
standpipe
•
Ensure that parts are free of dirt
•
Store in a clean and dry place
•
These armatures need to be maintained regularly
4.2 Assembly instructions
1.
Thoroughly flush hydrant / standpipe
2.
Check that backflow preventer connections are clean
3.
Assemble backflow preventer
Position backflow preventer and, using both handles, rotate it
and the counter coupling on the hydrant/standpipe to connect

Maintenance
In order to comply with EN 806-5, water fixtures must
be inspected and serviced on an annual basis.
As all maintenance work must be carried out by an
installation company, it is recommended that a
servicing contract should be taken out.
5.1 Inspection
The backflow preventer must undergo regular visual
inspections every 3 months at the latest. The following must
be checked:
•
State of the coupling
•
Dirt accumulation
– Stone trap
– Dust and fall protection
– Drainage holes
– Interior workings
If dirt has accumulated, clean with clear water without the
addition of detergents.
If any parts are damaged carry out a maintenance.
