Hardware Installation
• Turn off your computer and all devices connected to it.
• Remove the computer’s cover. Refer to your computer user’s manual for more details.
• Locate an available PCI slot and remove the metal bracket. Save the bracket screw for later use.

Align the card horizontally with respect to the PCI slot and insert it into the slot firmly and evenly. Take care
not to force it into the slot. Once you have properly positioned the card into the slot, secure the card with
the bracket screw you have saved.
• Replace the computer’s cover.
• Turn your computer on. You are now ready to install the driver.
Driver Installation
For detailed installation procedures of all operating systems, please refer to the
printed manufacturer’s manual or the installation guide included in the CD, under
D:\Moschip\MCS9865.
a) Installing Driver for Windows Vista 32/64-bit and Server 2008 32/64 bit:
• Once Windows is running, insert the driver CD into the CD-ROM drive, assuming drive D.
• Windows will automatically detect the product. Select “Locate and install driver software (recommended)”
and click “Continue”, then select “I don’t have the disc. Show me other options”.
• Click on “Browse my computer for driver software (advanced)”, and then browse to the following folder on
the driver CD. Assuming that the operating system used is Windows Vista 32-bit, go to the following folder:
D:\Moschip\MCS9865\Vista_Server2008\Windows32Bit\PciSetup.exe
• Click the “Next” to continue.
• Follow the on-screen instruction until the driver is install completely.
• Select “Install this driver software anyway” when Vista prompts the following:
“Windows can’t verify the publisher of this driver software”.
• Finally click “Close” when all the drivers have been installed.
b) Installing Driver for Windows 2000, XP 32/64-bit and Server 2003 32/64bit:
• Start Windows and insert the Driver CD into the CD-ROM drive, assume drive D.
• Windows will automatically detect the product. Select “No, not this time” and click the “Next” button to
continue.

Select “Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)” and click on the “Next” button.
• Do not select “Search removable media” and select only “Include this location in the search”, and then
click the “Browse” button select the location for the drivers, assuming the operating system used is
Windows XP 32bit:
D:\Moschip\MCS9865\Win2K_XP_Server2003\Windows32Bit\ PciSetup.exe

Click OK button to confirm and click “Next” button to continue.
• If the wizard asks for Windows Logo testing to verify compatibility, click “Continue Anyway”.

Click “Finish” button to finish installing driver.
• Once driver installation is completed, you can now connect your external devices to the PCI multi- I/O card.
To install the driver for the external devices, please refer to the external device user’s manuals.
Care and cleaning
• Do not use any aggressive cleaning agents, rubbing alcohol or other chemical solutions as they can cause
damage to the housing and malfunctioning.

Clean the product with a dry, fiber-free cloth.
• Do not immerse the product in water.
Disposal
Electronic devices are recyclable waste and must not be disposed of in the household waste. At
the end of its service life, dispose of the product according to the relevant statutory regulations.
You thus fulfil your statutory obligations and contribute to the protection of the environment.

Intended use
This PCI multi-I/O card uses the latest PCI based Peripheral controller chipset from MosChip, enabling this
card to be installed on any PCI capable PC system. By using this card, end user can add a serial port to their
PC system, allowing them to connect to their serial device.
It is intended for indoor use only. Do not use it outdoors. Contact with moisture, e.g. in bathrooms, must be
avoided under all circumstances.
For safety and approval purposes, you must not rebuild and/or modify this product. If you use the product
for purposes other than those described above, the product may be damaged. In addition, improper use can
cause hazards such as short circuiting, fire, etc. Read the instructions carefully and keep them. Make this
product available to third parties only together with its operating instructions.
