connected to the product.

•  Consult an expert when in doubt about operation, safety or connection of the device.
•

Maintenance, modifications and repairs are to be performed exclusively by an expert

or at a qualified shop.

•  If you have questions which remain unanswered by these operating instructions,

contact our technical support service or other technical personnel.

Operation

•  Switch on the computer and wait until the OS has fully loaded.
•  Connect the hub to an available USB 2.0 port on your computer. The OS will automatically detect

the hub and display the inserted card (if applicable) as a drive on the user interface.

•  The LED indicator turns on when the hub is ready to use.

Inserting/removing USB devices

•  USB devices may be inserted and removed when the computer is on. When inserting USB devices,

hold the hub steady with one hand to avoid damaging the USB connection.

An external power supply is required when connecting an external hard drive or other

USB devices with a power consumption of over 400 mA.

•  Connect a standard USB power supply with an output power of 5 V/DC, 2 A to the micro USB port

on the hub using a suitable USB cable (not included).

•  Then connect the external hard drive or the USB device to one of the USB-A ports on the hub.
•

Connect the hub to your Surface tablet. The external drive will turn on. If necessary, confirm the

prompt on your operating system to mount the hard drive/USB device to your computer.

Inserting/removing a memory card

•  Insert the memory card into a suitable slot on the hub. Ensure that the card is inserted in the

correct position. Do not force the card into the slot! Only one memory card should be inserted into

the hub at once.

•  Before removing a memory card from the hub (or disconnecting the hub from the computer),

you must first wait for all read or write operations from or to the memory card to be completed.

•  Before removing the memory card, take the necessary steps (eject or similar) to ensure that the

card is removed securely. Refer to the instructions in the user manual for your OS.

If the memory card is removed during reading or writing (or if the hub is disconnected),

data on the memory card may be damaged and the card may even have to be reformatted.

Reading from/writing to memory cards

Important: SDXC memory cards use a file system called exFAT. If your computer is running

Windows

®

XP, you must install a corresponding update, otherwise the OS will not be able

to detect SDXC memory cards! Visit the www.microsoft.com website and search for the

exFAT file system update. You will not be able to use SDXC memory cards in conjunction

with Windows

®

XP until you have installed this update! For Windows Vista, you must

install Service Pack 1 or higher to ensure that SDXC memory cards are supported by the

hub. Newer Windows versions (Windows 7 or later) automatically support the "exFAT" file

system on SDXC memory cards.

A memory card inserted into the hub is treated like a conventional removable media drive. You can

read data from (or write data to) a memory card just as if it were a USB hard drive or USB stick.

Please be aware that two cards cannot be detected and displayed by the operating

system at the same time. Only one card will be displayed.

Maintenance and cleaning

Never use aggressive and abrasive detergents, rubbing alcohol or other chemical

solutions, as these could damage the housing or even impair the functioning of the

product.

•  Always disconnect the product from the power supply (USB port) before cleaning it.
•  The product does not require maintenance except for occasional cleaning. Use a soft, antistatic

and lint-free cloth to clean the device.

•  Do not immerse the product in water.

Disposal

Electronic devices are recyclable waste and must not be disposed of in the household

waste.
At the end of its service life, dispose of the product according to the relevant statutory

regulations.

You thus fulfil your statutory obligations and contribute to the protection of the environment.
