DCF Reception
Immediately after the battery is inserted, the device makes a first attempt to receive the DCF signal.
The hands of the clock run to the reception position and automatically set themselves to the cur-
rent time after successfully receiving the DCF signal.
The detection and interpretation of the DCF signal can take up to five minutes. Do not
move the radio-controlled alarm clock during this time. Do not press any buttons or
switches!
Bad reception can occur, for example, by metallised insulated glass, reinforced con-
crete buildings, coated special wallpapers, proximity to electronic devices, or installa-
tion in cellars.
If after 10 minutes the hands have not moved to the current time, change the location
of the radio alarm clock and remove the battery. After approx. one minute insert the
battery again. This will start a new reception attempt.
The reception attempt for the daily automatic synchronisation with the DCF time is done several
times a day. One successful reception per day is sufficient to keep the deviation to less than one
second.
The DCF signal is encoded and transmitted via a DCF transmit-
ter in Mainflingen (near Frankfurt am Main). Its range is up to
1,500 km and, under ideal reception conditions, and even up to
2,000 km.
Among other things, the DCF signal includes the precise time
(theoretical deviation of one second in a million years!) and the
date.
Naturally, this also eliminates the hassle of manually setting
summer and winter times.
Manual DCF reception attempt
• To perform a manual search for the DCF signal (e.g. if you have set up the radio alarm clock in a
different location), turn the multifunctional button (4) upwards and hold it there for approx. two
seconds.
• Then release the multifunctional button (4) again.
• This will start a new reception attempt. Then, as described above, wait until the current time is
displayed.
Setting the Time Manually
The manual time setting is required if the radio alarm clock is to be used beyond the
DCF reception range or when the DCF reception is disturbed by environmental condi-
tions.
• Push the multifunctional button (4) until the time appears in the LC-display (2).
• Press and hold the ZONE button (5) for about two seconds, until the year indicator blinks.
• Set the year by turning the multifunctional button (4).
• Press the ZONE button (5) to confirm and set the month, date, hour and minute, as described
above.
• Press the ZONE button (5) again to confirm.
If you turn and hold the multifunctional button (4) during the setting, the change of the
values takes place continuously.
Alarm function
a) Setting the alarm
• Press the multifunctional (4) button, the hours display of the alarm time will flash.
• Set the hours for the alarm time by turning the multifunctional button (4).
• Press the multifunctional (4) button, the minute display of the alarm time will flash.
• Set the minutes for the alarm time by turning the multifunctional button (4).
• Press the multifunctional (4) button to save the alarm time and activate the alarm function.
b) Activating/deactivating the alarm function
• Press the multifunctional button (4) once, to deactivate the alarm function.
• Press the multifunctional button (4) three times, to activate the alarm function.
• A bell symbol appears in the LC-display (2), if the alarm function is activated.
c) Stopping the alarm signal & snooze function
• At the set alarm time, the alarm signal sounds. This signal can be interrupted for approx. 10
minutes by pressing the SNOOZE button (1) on the top side of the housing. After this, the signal
will restart (snooze function).
• This procedure can be repeated up to 4 times.
• To stop the alarm signal, press the multifunctional button (4). This will stop the alarm signal.
However, the alarm function will not be deactivated.
Display features
• Turn the multifunctional button (4), to show the time, the year or the date in the LC-display (2).
• Press the ZONE button (5) briefly to either show the seconds or the weekday in the display.
• While the time is displayed, turn the multi-function button (4) downwards and hold it in this posi-
tion for roughly two seconds to set the time display either to the 12 or 24 hour format.
Toggling the Time Zone
• Press and hold the ZONE button (5) while the date is shown in the LC-display (2) to display the
set time zone.
• When the time zone display in the LD-display (2) flashes, you can change it by turning the multi-
functional button (4).
• Save the setting by pressing the ZONE (5) button.
Illumination
Press the SNOOZE button (1) on the top of the case to turn on the clock face light for a few seconds.
Location for Use
Select a level, flat and stable location for use.
Protect valuable furniture surfaces by using an appropriate underlay; otherwise, it may cause
scratches.
Set up the radio-controlled alarm clock to prevent it from falling.
To ensure correct DCF reception, the radio-controlled alarm clock should not be placed next to
electronic devices, cables, metal parts, etc.
Maintenance and cleaning
The product does not require any maintenance and should never be disassembled for any reason.
Please use a soft, dry, clean cloth for cleaning.
Do not use any chemical cleaning agents, as they can discolour the plastic casing.
Disposal
a) Product
Electronic devices are recyclable waste materials and must not be disposed of in the
household waste!
Dispose of an unserviceable product in accordance with the relevant statutory regula-
tions.
Remove the batteries if there are batteries inserted and dispose of them separately
from the product.
b) Normal and Rechargeable Batteries
As the end user, you are required by law (Battery Regulation) to return used batteries and
rechargeable batteries. Do not dispose of used batteries in the household waste!
Batteries/rechargeable batteries contain harmful materials and are labelled with the
symbol shown to indicate that disposal in the household waste is forbidden. The sym-
bols of the relevant heavy metals are: Cd=cadmium, Hg=mercury, Pb=lead (marking
can be seen on the battery/rechargeable battery, e.g. underneath the refuse bin symbol
shown on the left).
You can return your used batteries/rechargeable batteries free of charge at the official collection
points of your community, in our stores, or at places where batteries or rechargeable batteries
are sold!
You thereby fulfil your statutory obligations and contribute to the protection of the environment.
