2. PREPARING FOR USE WITH A TRACKSIDE LAYOUT.
NEVER PLACE MULTIPLE RX BASE UNITS SIDE BY SIDE. KEEP 1 X METRE APART.
Make sure the 7
– 15 volt DC supply is OFF.
Connect the 7
– 15 volt to the input terminals.
Connect the layout wiring to the OUTPUT to TRACK terminals.
If you need to, reverse the track connection to suit direction of control.
We recommend mounting the Base Unit sideways so that cooling air can pass through the holes in the sides.
Either way round is OK.
3. USING TITAN-TRACKSIDE R/C WITH A TRACKSIDE LAYOUT.
Make sure the Tx handpiece is ON first and the big knob is in the middle position.
MOST IMPORTANT!!
FIRST TIME USE.
The Electronic Speed Controller (ESC) was calibrated to the regular standard at the factory and should not require
recalibrating.
When Base Unit is powered ON after the Tx handpiece, there should be no voltage going to the track.
However, if, when the speed/direction cont
rol knob is in the neutral “click position and there is an output voltage to the
track, re-calibration will be required.
RECALIBRATION PROCEDURE (If needed).
Remove the case cover so that you can reach the centering button on the ESC. See diagram on page # 4
The two tiny LEDs on the actual speed control unit will alternately blink rapidly once the Tx and Rx link after switch ON.
Within 2 seconds of them starting to blink rapidly, press the SET UP button on the ESC.
This accurately sets the actual centre OFF position of the speed controller to match the détente on the TX handpiece.
If you were not fast enough, leave the Tx handpiece ON & turn the base unit OFF and then ON again. As soon as the Tx
and Rx unit link together, the Speed Control part will start flashing alternately. Then press that button within 2 x seconds.
Be careful the case cover is replaced correctly. See diagrams on Page # 4.
Then twist the Big Knob once in each direction to the end of knob travel and return to neutral. This sets the default
direction & maximum speed in each direction. If track has the wrong polarity, repeat the procedure but start twisting the
knob the opposite way first. This only needs to be done once, unless changing the TX handpieces.
GENERAL USE.
After switch ON the ESC, the two tiny LEDs on the actual speed control unit will alternately blink rapidly.
Wait 2 x seconds and they will stop blinking. The system is now ready to use.
To speed up, slowly turn the big knob CW. The loco(s) on the track will move off in one direction.
To slow the loco, turn the big knob CCW. All the way CCW back to neutral will bring the loco to a stop.
Once the loco(s) have
completely
stopped, and with the knob in the middle, turn the knob CCW to speed up in the
opposite direction.
Turn the knob CW to slow the loco. All the way CW back to neutral will bring the loco to a stop.
ADD ON FUNCTIONS.
The #
EVO-STEAM
Tx handpiece is capable of operating some trackside accessories.
There are two ways of doing this.
1. Adding in suitable functions or servo to the Base Unit.
NOT RECOMMENDED.
2. Using an extra Rx bound to the #
EVO-STEAM
Tx handpiece. This will require a regulated 5 volt supply and will
control and power various device such as R/C switches and servos using Channel # 3 and Channel # 5.
If a TX3, TX-5 or TX-7 is used to operate the Base Unit. You can use Channels, 2, 3, 4 & 5.
TURN TX-1
‘P’
POWER ON.
NEUTRAL OFF POSITION OF
THE TX-1 HANDPIECE.
SPEEDING UP FORWARDS.
SPEEDING UP IN REVERSE.
