Radar
RADAR PRODUCES ELECTROMAGNETIC
ENERGY WHICH IS HARMFUL.
TURN THE RADAR OFF WHEN PERSONNEL
ARE SERVICING THE UNIT
OR EQUIPMENT CLOSE BY.
WARNING
!
CAUTION
!
AVOID POSSIBLE DAMAGE TO THE EYES
DUE TO ELECTROMAGNETIC ENERGY.
WHEN RADAR IS TRANSMITTING
DO NOT LOOK DIRECTLY AT THE ANTENNA
AT CLOSE RANGE.
Radar Operation
Follow these steps to enable the radar:
1. Before energizing the chartplotter(s) visually inspect
the radar to ensure the area around the antenna is clear.
The radar transmits a signal approximately 12 degrees
above and below a line extending horizontally from the
center of the radar.
2. To operate the radar, make sure the “house battery
switch and the helm electronics switch are both turned to
the “on” position as pointed out earlier in the electronics
information.
3. Hold down the chartplotter(s) power key and then re-
lease it slowly. The unit will cycle and a warning screen
will appear. Agree to the warning message by touching
the screen.
4. The chartplotter will cycle to the home screen.
5. Touch the
radar
title on the home screen.
6. In the next title grouping touch
transmit radar
.
7. At this point the radar unit enters a standby time usu-
ally around 30 seconds. From a distance check the radar
unit for clearance.
8.. A “spinning up” message appears and the radar unit
will begin a turning cycle.
Current radar features a 4 ft. antenna scanner with 2 rota-
tion speeds. The unit transmits a total of 6 kilowatts of
power.
This radar unit supplies high de
fi
nition technology which
provides up to 8 times more sampling information than
standard radar. With these features you will be able to
detect smaller targets at a longer range.
Since the radar unit is part of the vessel electronic marine
network you will be able to use the chartplotter as your
network screen and have the capability to overlay the ra-
dar image on the chartplotter map page.
