Battery Box Commissioning
The electric starter is operated with two NiMH or two LiPo racing packs. The battery is
connected using a Y-piece adapter protected against polarity reversal and using Tamiya plug
connectors. The starter’s function button is on the top of the battery box (see arrow figure 17).
Attention, important!
Use either two NiMH racing packs or two LiPo racing packs. A combination of the
different battery types is not permissible.
Use only high-quality and high-current capable racing packs because the starter will
otherwise not achieve the required torque.
Always use two battery types of the same manufacturer and the same capacity
indication.
Before use, charge the two racing packs according to manufacturer’s information. For this,
take the racing packs from the starter to avoid distortion of the starter casing due to heat
formation during charging.
Proceed as follows for insertion:
• Connect the two racing packs with the Y-piece adapter protected against polarity reversal
(figure 14).
• Put the racing packs in the battery box and connect the Y-piece adapter on the inside of the
battery compartment (figure 15).
• Put away the connection cable and plug connectors in the battery compartment and close
the battery compartment (figure 16).
Starting the Petrol Engine
Before you can start the motor, you have to take the remote control system
(transmitter and receiver) into operation. The operating lever for the throttle function
must be in the “idle” position.
The rechargeable batteries of the remote control system and the racing packs in the
battery box must be charged according to manufacturers’ specifications.
• Close the choke flap at the petrol engine (lever vertical).
• Actuate the manual pump at the carburettor (see arrow, figure 2) until the “gauge glass” is
completely filled up with fuel and the latter reaches the carburettor.
• Connect the connection plug of the battery box to the connection plug of the starter motor
(see arrow figure 13) (figure 17).
• Actuate the red starter button at the top of the battery box (see arrow figure 17) until the petrol
engine starts to turn and the ignition process can be heard.
• Open the choke flap again (lever horizontal) and actuate the red starter button again until the
petrol engine runs on its own.
• Then remove the battery box from the connection plug of the starter motor.
Attention!
Since starting puts a strain on your model drive and the electric starter, remove the
error cause before trying to start the petrol engine again in case of unsuccessful
starting attempts.
For more information on starting the petrol engine and removal of causes for starting
problems, see the operating instructions of your model vehicle.
Disposal
a) General Information
At the end of its service life, dispose of the product according to the relevant statutory
regulations.
b) Batteries and Rechargeable Batteries
You as the end user are required by law (Battery Ordinance) to return all used batteries/
rechargeable batteries. Disposing of them in the household waste is prohibited!
Batteries and rechargeable batteries containing hazardous substances are marked
with adjacent symbol to indicate that disposal in the household waste is prohibited.
The descriptions for the respective heavy metal are: Cd=cadmium, Hg=mercury,
Pb=lead (the names are indicated on the battery/rechargeable battery e.g. below the
rubbish bin symbol shown to the left).
You may return used batteries/rechargeable batteries free of charge at the official collection
points of your community, in our stores, or wherever batteries/rechargeable batteries are sold.
You thus fulfil your statutory obligations and contribute to the protection of the environment.
