Intrinsically Safe Classification

“Intrinsically Safe” is a fire safety rating given 
to the equipment by SGS North America Inc. 
according to ANSI/UL 913 (U.S.) and CSA C22.2 
No.  157  (Canada)  certification  standards. 
When the equipment is given this rating, it is 
considered  safe  to  use  in  certain  flammable 
or  combustible  atmospheres.  Flammable 
atmospheres have been categorized by Class, 
Division, and Group as described below:
