Receiving an All Ships Call
DSC on distress calling frequencies are used by coast stations to advise shipping and by
ships to advise coast stations and other ships of a following urgency or safety message.
Reception of a safety call addressed to all ships is indicated by a sound signal of 3 seconds
duration and a Call lamp that flashes until the call is acted upon. The call alarm sound level
setting can be changed, see the Function Menu.

Receiving an Individual Call
When the transceiver is not used for traffic, scanning should be activated to keep watch on
one or more DSC frequencies used for public correspondence and general ship-to-ship
communication.
Reception of an individual routine call addressed to the ship is indicated by a flashing Call
lamp and a sound signal which continues until the call is acted upon. The call alarm sound
