Atex – and Atex zones
Ratél at all times recommends that you have acquired basic knowledge of the Atex
concept before mounting equipment in an Atex zone.
The RatTrap ET20 Atex certification allows you to install RatTrap ET20 in explosive
environments - in this case, in what is called Atex Zone 2.
Zone 2 is a zone where explosive gases rarely occur - and only for a shorter period of
time. In the sewer systems there are seldomly large amounts of explosive gasses, and
when they occur, it will normally have a rather short duration.
We define zone 2 in the sewer systems as under the manhole cover and downwards.
The approval applies to the RatTrap itself and the Repeater, since these are the parts
mounted in the Atex zone.
The Atex approved equipment is marked with or - always check if the mark is
visible on the device when you mount a trap where the ATEX approval is required.
You should never work with open fire or power tools in an Atex zone.
Always make sure that Atex labeled equipment is intact and correctly assembled before
mounting - never attempt to repair Atex-labeled equipment yourself.
