thesmokeunitswitchlocatedundertheenginebody.
Whenthesmokeoutputwhilerunningtheengine
beginstodiminish,addanother10-15dropsof
smokefluidorturnthesmokeunitoff.
Whenstoringtheunitforlongperiodsoftime,you
maywanttoaddabout15dropsoffluidtoprevent
thewickfromdryingout.
Afterremovingtheenginefromstorage,add
another25dropsoffluid,lettingthewicksoak
upthefluidfor15minutespriortooperation.
Ifyouexperiencepoorornosmokeoutputwhenthe
smokeunitisonandhasfluid,checkthewicktosee
ifithasbecomehard,blackened,andunabsorbent
aroundtheheatingelement. Removetheboileras
shownbelow. Removethesmokeunitinspection
coverfromthelocomotive'sbody(seeright). After
removingthechassisandinspectioncoverscrews,lift
theinspectionplateawayandinspectthewick. Ifit
isdarklydiscoloredandhard,itshouldbereplaced.
Whenprimingnewwickadd40drops.

offmaydamagethesmokeunitheatingelement
and/orwickingmaterial.
