Where and how you position your
speaker has a great effect on the over-
all sound of your system.
For the best stereo effect, position
each speaker an equal distance from
each other and the center of your lis-
tening area.
If you must place speakers farther
apart than recommended, you can turn
them slightly toward each other to
achieve a more realistic effect.
For a slight increase in bass response,
place your speakers on a shelf or table
positioned against a wall or in a corner.
Avoid placing your speakers on a sur-
face that absorbs sound, such as thick
carpeting.
Experiment to find the best setup for
your sound system.
CONNECTING TO AN
AMPLIFIER
Cautions:
• You can use an amplifier/receiver
with a power handling rating
higher than that of the speaker, but
take care never to exceed the
speaker’s maximum power rating
(see “Specifications”).
• To avoid any damage to the
speaker or amplifier/receiver, turn
off the amplifier/receiver before
making connections.
Your local RadioShack store has a
wide selection of speaker wire. We rec-
ommend you use color-coded or
marked wire to help you correctly con-
nect the wire. Some color-coded wires
have a stripe running down one side of
the conductors. Some marked wires
have ridges along one side of the con-
ductors.
With a pair of speakers in their approx-
imate locations, measure the distance
from each speaker to the amplifier. Use
18-gauge speaker wire or lamp cord for
distances up to 50 feet. For greater dis-
tances, use 16-gauge wire.
1. Split apart about 4 inches of
speaker wire on each end.
2. Use a wire stripper to strip

of insulation from each wire end.
Twist the loose wire strands to pre-
vent the wires from shorting.
