ADJUSTING THE LINE-
STATUS INDICATORS
Once you have connected the phone
lines and AC power, you need to adjust
the line-status indicators so they work
properly with your individual phone
lines.
You should adjust the line-status indica-
tors anytime you move the phone from
its current telephone lines. Also, if you
notice the indicators not working as ex-
pected, first try adjusting the line-status
indicators. (If the phone company
changes its power ratings on your phone
lines, the indicators could be affected).
Follow these steps to adjust both line-
status indicators.
1. If you have mounted your ET-294 to
a wall or wall plate, slide the phone
up and off the screws to have
access to the line-status adjustment
dials.
2. Lift the handset and press
LINE 1
.
3. Insert the supplied screwdriver into
the
L1
dial on the bottom of the base
and rotate the dial clockwise until it
stops. The red indicator on
LINE 1
lights steadily.
4. Press
HOLD
, then rotate the
L1
dial
counterclockwise until
LINE 1
’s red
indicator flashes.
Note
: After pressing
HOLD
, you have
10–18 seconds to adjust the red
line-status indicator before it goes
out. If the light goes out before you
can complete the adjustment, hang
up the handset and repeat Steps 2–
4.
5. Press
LINE 1
on the base. The red
Line 1 indicator lights steadily to
confirm the setting. If it does not,
repeat Steps 3–5.
6. If you connected more than one line
to the ET-294, press
LINE 2
then
repeat Steps 3–5, substituting
LINE
2
for
LINE 1
and
L2
for
L1
.
7. If the ET-294 was mounted on a wall
or wall plate before the adjustment,
remount the phone.
