Preparation
4. Plug the other end of the adapter
into a standard AC outlet or into
your vehicle’s cigarette lighter
socket.
5. When you finish using the
adapter, disconnect it from the
AC outlet or your vehicle’s ciga-
rette-lighter socket first, then
unplug it from the CD player.
Note: Always unplug the adapter be-
fore using the CD player with alkaline
batteries. Otherwise the player will
not operate.
CONNECTING
EARPHONES OR
HEADPHONES
You can listen to your CD player by
connecting the supplied head-
phones, optional earphones, or op-
tional amplified speakers to the
player’s
PHONES
jack.
Note: Your local RadioShack store
carries a wide variety of cable and
adapters.
For private listening, connect the sup-
plied headphones or optional ear-
phones with a

into the
PHONES
jack.
Listening Safely
To protect your hearing, follow these
guidelines when you use head-
phones.
• Set the volume to the lowest set-
ting before you begin listening.
After you begin listening, adjust
the volume to a comfortable
level.
• Do not listen at extremely high
volume levels. Extended high-
volume listening can lead to per-
manent hearing loss.
• Once you set the volume, do not
increase it. Over time, your ears
adapt to the volume level, so a
volume level that does not cause
discomfort might still damage
your hearing.
Traffic Safety
Do not wear earphones or head-
phones while operating a motor vehi-
cle or riding a bicycle. This can create
a traffic hazard and could be illegal in
some areas.
Even though some earphones and
headphones let you hear some out-
side sounds when listening at normal
volume levels, they still can present a
traffic hazard.
