Maintenance

1.

Failed lamps should be replaced promptly to avoid damage to the luminaire.

2.

Repairs should only be carried out by a qualified electrician. Only replacement components authorised by Red Arrow should

be used. Disposal of replaced components should be in accordance with the component manufactures instructions.

3.

Special care should be taken if it is required to open the fitting beyond that which is necessary for re-lamping the fitting

may still be live even though the mains supplies have been disconnected. In these circumstances disconnect the battery
    supply immediately.

4.

Servicing, cleaning, lamp replacement etc. Should only be carried out after the fitting has been made electrically safe.

5.

Cleaning of luminaires should be carried out at regular intervals not only to ensure good optical performance but also to

ensure that dirt does not accumulate to impair the electrical or thermal safety of the fitting.

6.

To avoid damage to the luminaire failed lamps should be replaced promptly with a lamp of the recommended type and

rating, and of the same manufacture following these instructions.

7.

The rated life of miniature T5 fluorescent tubes operating continuously on emergency maintained / sustained circuits is

some 5,000 hours. Therefore all lamps operating continuously in maintained / sustained fittings should be replaced on a 4
to 6 monthly maintenance schedule to maintain maximum system integrity.

8.

NB Due to the small diameter of T5 fluorescent tubes manufacturers are unable to fit electrode shields as fitted to larger

T12 tubes and therefore some blackening of the tube ends is to be expected as a normal characteristic.

9.

Batteries are the Nickel Cadmium type and have a normal service life of approximately 4 years.

10.

Battery replacement should be carried out after 4 year period.
