Touching the ceramic parts of the valve tube with bare hands will
leave traces of grease. Avoid if possible, if not, clean with
tryethylene or acetone.
7) Once the valve tube is fully inserted, rest the silver tube on the
valve tube (position B fig.14) checking that the disks D and DÆ are
in front of those fixed to the cavity and perfectly equidistant
from the base. It is essential to lock collar C to the tube using
a number 7 tubular key, so that it cannot come away from the tube.
This collar should be fixed as close to the end of the tube as possible
so that it makes use of the elasticity of the tube.
8) Check that these operations have been correctly carried out and
reassemble the flue and top cover before closing the panel.
3.4 STARTING THE UNIT
To start the VJ3000 amplifier, carry out the following procedure:
1) The unit is intended for 380 Vac (or 220 Vac), 3 phases plus neutral.
It is imperative that the neutral supply is connected to the connector
terminal marked N, while the order of connection of the other phases
is unimportant since the fan is single phase (in the case of a unit
with a threephase fan, ensure that the fan rotates in the correct
direction). Connect the driver to the corresponding auxiliary
terminals; ensure correct connection to avoid possible damage to the
tube and final stage. Enable the battery back-up by switching the
lever switch situated on the back panel of the protection section.
Having installed the tube according to the preceding instructions,
reconnet line power.
2) Carry out SETUP 1.
3) Set the exciter to minimum power output and set the ST.BY./H.V. switch
to ST.BY (4 Fig.6).
4) Set the driver ON-OFF switch to OFF. Enable the supply with the main
switch (1 Fig.6) and wait during the warm-up period (tables D); this
period is shown on the two left-hand digits of the display by holding
down the TIM/CICL button (12 Fig.5). The number displayed (2 Fig.5)
indicates the warm-up time. One of four periods may be selected
setting the jumpers on the protection card according to table D.
5) Set the ST.BY/H.V. switch to H.V. ON (4 Fig.6); the high voltage
supply will be enabled and the tube anode absorption will rise to
250 mA (quiescent bias current (6 Fig.3). If the anode current does
not correspond to this figure, re-check that the tube is correctly
fitted,
taking care to follow the correct procedure and
remembering that high voltages may be present inside the unit,
even with it switched off.
