General information

A distance of less than 50 cm between the pumps and the module can

infl uence the counting behaviour of the add-on radio module.
Metallized veneers (e.g. chrome) impair optimum radio reception. It is recom-

mended to replace existing chrome rosettes with „radio rosettes“. With this

special rosette design, the shielding eff ect for radio waves is minimised.
Placing the add-on radio module on refl ective surfaces can lead to unwanted

behaviour or errors.

Commissioning

Parameterization

Before operation with a water meter prepared for radio communication, the add-on

radio module must be parameterised with the meter parameters (meter number,

meter reading and medium: cold or hot water and, if necessary, a diff erent billing

date) of the associated mechanical water meter. For this purpose, the Q suite 5

meter software in conjunction with the infrared communication head WFZ.IrDA-USB

is required.

Registration in the radio network

New add-on radio modules are not radio active when delivered. To ensure radio

transmission, built-in device combinations must be started by radio or registered in

the radio system.

Depending on the type of radio system used, any system-related requirements for

registering the device combination must be observed.

In the fi eld of AMR network technology, for example, the appropriate installation

mode must be activated before starting the installation telegrams on the measuring

device side.
The radio add-on module is activated by means of a programming stick / triggering

tool Radio telegrams WFZ.PS, or alternatively by the measuring instrument software

Q suite 5 in conjunction with the IrDA communication head WFZ.IrDA-USB.

Note

After activating the radio interface, the LED fl ashes slowly for about 4 minutes.

Safety information

The device may only be installed by trained specialist personnel. The device is

maintenance-free.

For the non-replaceable lithium metal battery permanently installed in the unit,

regulations for the transport of hazardous goods and for recycling as well as safety

instructions for handling batteries must be observed.

Intended use

The unit is a top-mounted module with radio data transmission.

This product is used exclusively for retrofi tting mechanical water meters prepared

for radio transmission for use in the Q walk-by and Q AMR systems.

Warranty and guarantee

Warranty and guarantee claims can only be asserted if the equipment has been

used for its intended purpose and applicable technical specifi cations and rules have

been observed.

All uses not in accordance with the intended purpose automatically lead to a loss of

claims.

Assembly and operating instructions

This product must be installed professionally and according to the specifi ed installa-

tion guidelines and may only be installed by trained and qualifi ed personnel.

Technical description

The add-on radio modules Q module 5.5 water Allmess transmit data from Allmess

water meters type „Measuring capsule system MK +m“ and type „Domestic water

meter V +m“ to the Q AMR and Q walk-by systems. The add-on radio modules can

be used with the various meter designs.

Remove empty module

To install a radio add-on module, the empty module must fi rst be removed.

1. Place a screwdriver in the positions.

2. Turn the screwdriver to open the lock of the empty module

with the counter housing. This will separate the type plate at

the perforation.

3. Remove the empty module.

4. Check the cover of the scanning disk before attaching the

add-on radio module.

1. Place the add-on radio module fl ush on the water meter with

an approx. 3 mm wide gap.

2. Push the add-on radio module against the counter housing

with a little force after mounting.

3. The gap of approx. 3 mm closes. The add-on radio module

must be fl ush all round! Please check!

4. To protect against manipulation, the add-on radio module should be secured with

the enclosed adhesive seal made of security foil. For this purpose, the adhesive

seal is used to connect the counter housing and the add-on radio module.

Glue the seal between two bars on the right-hand side so that the seal is not

damaged when cylinders / rosettes are pushed on.

Securing the add-on radio module

The add-on radio module can be secured against accidental detachment from

the water meter either with a rosette or with an optionally available mounting ring

(mainly in mounting boxes).

Thus either the rosette together with the cylinder or only the mounting ring can be

pushed on after the module has been installed.

Important notes on installation

The use of these add-on radio modules in areas with constantly high humidity

(e.g. direct shower areas or shafts) should be avoided, as in the long term

humidity can diff use through the plastic meter cover and impair readability

and opto-electronic scanning. Furthermore, water meters must be installed

frost-proof!

Mounting the add-on radio module

After removing the empty module, the radio add-on module can be mounted.

Note

To ensure trouble-free operation, the scanning disk should

be clean and free of damage or scratches.
