PiXtend eIO Hardware Manual
6.4.1.Digital Inputs
The eight digital inputs (DI0 - DI7) are designed in 1-wire connection technology and are
related to the general ground (GND) of the device.
Applications
–
Switch, button, limit switch
–
Sensors with switching output (proximity switches, photoelectric sensors)
–
Outputs of other control units
–
Integrated circuit outputs (TTL level, CMOS level)
–
Fast Digital Logic Functions ("Hyper Logic" - HL)
–
Counting functionality of the digital inputs (UP / DOWN counter, 2-channel counter)
Two different voltage ranges can be set (one jumper per input). In the 24 V range, the
inputs comply with the requirements of the PLC standard: IEC / EN 61131-2. Even signals
with 12 V level (for example in the automotive / automotive applications) are reliably
detected, over-voltages and reverse polarity up to +/- 30 V can not affect the inputs.
The 5 V range is designed for 5 V TTL and 3.3 V CMOS levels.
How to change the voltage range can be found in the chapter
on page 33.
Analog filter stages increase immunity to interference and ensure reliable signal
processing by the PiXtend eIO micro-controller. LEDs indicate the state of the inputs.
