PiXtend eIO Hardware Manual
6.2.3.Power Supply
The central power supply on PiXtend eIO is produced via the directly adjacent connectors
labeled "VCC" and "GND" (on the stainless steel cover of Pro devices additionally labeled
"Supply").
An external power supply supplies PiXtend eIO via these connections with a voltage of 19
- 30 V DC and a maximum current of 0.2 A. The nominal voltage is 24 V DC. The internal
voltage regulator generates a stabilized and short-circuit-proof 5 V DC voltage. This 5 V
voltage is only used internally to supply the microprocessor, the RS485 bus driver and
many other circuit components.
The 5 V DC voltage is intended only for the internal supply of the
PiXtend eIO device and must not be used for external purposes!
If your application requires 24 V DC as well as 5 V DC, use an external power supply
(115/230 V AC to 5 V) or a DC / DC converter (24 V to 5 V).
For PiXtend eIO Digital One devices there are further connections with the designation
"VCC" (on the printed circuit board) or "VCC-DOx-y" (on the stainless steel cover) on the
terminal strips of the digital outputs. These are intended only for the supply of the digital
outputs and not suitable for the supply of the other device electronics. Further information
on these connections can be found starting on page 94 in this document.
