Three Print Resolutions
The printer offers 300 dpi (dots per inch), 600 dpi, and 1200 dpi out-
put.
User Benefit—Three resolutions allow you to customize the quality of
your output according to its use: 300 dpi for most hardtop needs and
600 or 1200 dpi for high-resolution output.
» Note: Color printing at 600 dpi requires that the printer have a
minimum of 20 MB RAM. Color printing at 1200 dpi requires that the
printer have a minimum of 40 MB RAM.
Four Resident Emulations
Your printer has built-in support for printing in HP PCL5, HP-GL, Line-
printer, and PostScript Level 2 emulations. See chapter 2, “Printer
Options,” of the reference guide for the listing of additional emulations
that can be added to this printer.
User Benefit—Most applications can print directly to the printer.
1 HP PCL 5C Emulation
The printer emulates the Hewlett-Packard LaserJet IIISi at both
300x300 (for images, graphics, and fonts) and 600x600 dpi (for
scalable fonts only).
2 HP-GL Emulation
The printer provides HP-GL plotter emulation (7475A and 7550A)
at 300x300 (for images, graphics, and fonts) and 600x600 dpi (for
scalable fonts only).
3 Lineprinter Emulation
The Lineprinter emulation prints simple, unformatted text files at
300x300 and 600x600 dpi. Each text line ends with a carriage
return.
4 PostScript Level 2 Emulation
The QMS
magicolor CX printer’s PostScript Level 2 emulation
allows you to take full advantage of your printer's high print reso-
