in RT cabinets according to normal practices. The unit occupies two card slots.
Follow the manufacturer’s detailed instructions for mounting the shelf and making power
connections.
C. Make Alarm Connections
Each O3-4D1L3 module uses two DC contact closures as well as an alarm pin and a fuse
pin to identify failures. Follow the steps in Procedure 1 to make these optional alarm
connections.

Follow the steps in Procedure 2 to install the O3-4D1L3 transceiver and module.
Procedure 1. Making Optional Alarm Connections
STEP

1
Wire local OC3 alarms to backplane connector pins K and 9 (Tip and Ring).
2
Wire local DS1 alarms to backplane connector pins F and 6 (Tip1 and Ring1).
Procedure 2. Installing the O3-4D1L3 Transceiver and Module
STEP
ACTION
1
Carefully plug the desired SFP transceiver (see Table 1) into its front-panel
socket. Ensure that it snapped into place.
2
Plug an O3-4D1L3 into a 3192 card slot; the module is two slots wide.
3
Verify that the front-panel UNIT indicator is green.
•
If the UNIT indicator does not turn on, verify that power is connected to
the mounting and that a good fuse is properly installed.
•
If the UNIT indicator is red, verify that the laser transceiver is properly
latched into its socket. If the indicator remains red, the O3-4D1L3 module
is defective and should be replaced.
