6.11.3. Jewelry
The Original Prusa SL1S is
perfect for printing tiny, highly-detailed models.
There’s a couple of
things to avoid in order to achieve a great looking surface. The most important thing to keep in
mind is the fact that
supports can leave tiny marks on the object’s surface,
so if your model has
parts that should be printed perfectly, make sure there are no supports touching them.
You will need to use a
combination of the Pad, supports, Rotate/Move/Scale tool.
Also,
configure the supports correctly in case the automatic generation won’t deliver the desired result.
Jewelry and similar objects are very small, so you don’t usually need a ton of supports.
You can check the examples below to see how we positioned them before printing.
6.11.4. Characters and props
Characters and props are often some of the
most complex objects you can find.
The Original
Prusa SL1S can handle the details on character models without any issue, so you can produce
high-quality figures or props from your favorite movie or game.
Usually, you will need to use the
pad and supports, and adjust the density of supports
(or add
extra supports manually) in case you decide to print a more complex object. Also, keep in mind
that objects consisting of several parts, like body, arms, head and legs, can be a bit challenging to
assemble in case the original model creator did not leave enough tolerance for joints or pegs. The
only option is to adjust the problematic parts with a fine sanding paper.
Larger models should be
hollowed first to reduce weight
- hollowing helps to save material and hollowed objects require
less supports. See chapter
6.14 Hollowing objects
