Forum Gateway 560 Modules

This chapter contains detailed technical information on the modules which
can be operated in the Forum Gateways 560. You will find information on
their respective fields of application, along with technical and operational
information and notes on indicators.

The modules fulfil the following tasks:

●

Power supply units

supply power to a Forum Gateway 560. Each

Forum Gateway 560 requires 2 power supply units max.

●

A

central control module

is responsible for controlling a

Forum Gateway 560. This module provides the memory card (Compact-
Flash) among other things. The firmware necessary for operating the
Forum Gateway 560 is saved on the CompactFlash card.

●

Interface cards

are used to connect the Forum 5004/5008/5012 to the

telecommunications network (or to another communications system) and
to connect terminals.
A number of interface cards are available for these tasks. Depending on
the interface card’s functions, it may also be referred to as a trunk module
or as a subscriber module.

●

One or multiple Forum 550 Media Gateway Card media gateway modules
are necessary for each Forum Gateway 560 to convert TDM voice
channels into VoIP data streams. The VoIP data streams on the other hand
realise voice connections between the Forum Gateway 560 and the
Forum 5004/5008/5012 communications system.
