8. The "Auto Jumper" has been designed for 12-volt batteries with a low voltage
of between 10.4 and 10.5 volts.
9. The "Auto Jumper" should be recharged every 12 months irrespective of
usage. It is recommended that an AC adapter be used.
Charging weak batteries:
1. Make sure that the "Auto Jumper" is not connected to the car when you try to start
it.
2. Switch off all lamps and other electric equipment (e.g. radio, windscreen wipers,
etc.). Switch on the interior lighting to use it as indication that the battery is
charged.
3. Switch your car alarm if you have one to "Off". This will be necessary because
many alarm systems interrupt the vehicle's electrical systems. The "Auto Jumper"
may not work if your car possesses an alarm system and it is activated.
4. Make sure that the cigarette lighter is clean.
5. Plug the "Auto Jumper" into the cigarette lighter's socket.
6. Press the "On/Off" button to "On".
7. The lamp on the 12-volt plug indicates that charging has commenced.
8. Switch the ignition on if the dial does not light up.
9. Switch off the interior lighting if it does not come on. The plug should remain in
the cigarette lighter for at least 35 minutes.
10. Start the car, but do not make more than two attempts.
Charging the "Auto Jumper" in the car:
•
In order to charge the "Auto Jumper" in the car, press the "On/Off" button to "Off"
and connect the plug to the cigarette lighter and switch the engine and allow it to
run for between 30 and 60 minutes. This will provide sufficient capacity.
•
You may not plug the "Auto Jumper" into the cigarette lighter while the engine is
not running. This will not damage your car but it may drain the "Auto Jumper".
Charging the "Auto Jumper" at home using an AC adapter:
Plug the AC adapter into a wall socket and connect the other end to the provided AC
socket on the "Auto Jumper". It will take between four and six hours to charge.
Using the "Auto Jumper" as a 12-volt DC source:
•
The "Auto Jumper" is equipped with a 12-volt DC source.
•
The "Auto Jumper's" socket has a positive (+) central needle. Most (but not all)
12-volt DC sources possess one of these.
•
Check the source's polarity before connecting any 12-volt DC source.
•
You will have to use an appropriate socket (not included) for the DC adapter
where DC sources that do not possess positive (+) central needles, that do not
work with 12 volts or that possess different connectors are concerned.
•
The "Auto Jumper" is for supplying direct current to 12-volt radios, mobile
phones, etc.
