LUBRICATION
1. It is important that the tool be properly lubricated. Without proper lubrication the tool will not work properly
and parts will wear prematurely. Avoid over-lubricating the tool.
2.
Use the proper lubricant and fill or lubricate parts ON
LY as necessary. Use only recommended lubricants.
Substitutes may harm the rubber compounds in the tool’
s O-rings and other rubber parts.
3.
All of the bearings in this tool are lubricated with a sufficient amount of high-grade lubricant for the life of
the unit under normal conditions. Therefore, no further lubrication is required.
WARNING! NEVER use WD-40 to clean or lubricate your tool. WD-40 is a solvent that will break down the
internal grease and cause the tool to seize up.
OPERATION
CAUTION! Be sure to switch the power off and unplug the grinder to avoid accidental starting which could result
in damage to the workpiece or personal injury.
NOTE: Use type 1 grinding wheels with a maximum 1-1/2" diameter and maximum ¼" thickness only. Always use
eye and face protection when grinding.
INSPECTION
•
Collet Chuck. Your rotary die grinder is equipped with a collet chuck to receive ¼"
diameter mandrels.
•
Grinder Wheels and Rotary Files. With a ¼" mandrel, the maximum diameter of
grinding wheels is 1-1/2" and the maximum diameter of rotar
y files is 3/8". Use
grinding wheels when working with hard materials and rotar
y files for milling soft
materials such as nonferrous metals (aluminum, brass, copper, etc.) Using grinding
wheels when working with soft materials will clog the wheel, preventing it
from cutting as it was designed.
WARNING! Never use wheels or files rated below 30,000 RPM. Wheels or files rated for
less than30,000 RPM could disintegrate while in use, causing serious injury.
INSTALLATION
Attach wheel or file to grinder
1. Push the spanner / wrench in the collet shaft. (Figure 3)
2.
Insert the mandrel into the collet chuck a minimum of 1/4" to prevent the wheel or file
from disengaging from the grinder while in use.
NOTE: Inserting the mandrel a minimum of 1/4" into the collet chuck minimizes
vibration, delivers better results, and reduces the risk of injury.
3. Tighten collet chuck securely with the wrench provided.
NOTE: Always check the cutter for tightness before each use. A loose cutter can be
thrown from the tool with considerable force, causing injury.
4. The tool can be mounted to a post bracket (sold separately). It can mount your tool
solidly on any metal lathe cross-slide for precision internal milling and grinding or a
centered work piece.
WARNING! DO NOT attempt to modify tools or create accessories. Any such alteration or modification is misuse
and could result in a hazardous condition leading to possible serious injury. It will also void the warranty.
