warning: To prevent serious injury from accidental Operation:
3. Do not install a female quick coupler on the tool.
Such a coupler contains an air valve that will allow
the air tool to retain pressure and operate accidentally after the air supply is disconnected.
note: airflow, and therefore tool performance, can be hindered by undersized air supply components.
4. The air hose must be long enough to reach the work area with enough extra length to allow free
movement while working.
Make sure the tool's throttle or switch is in the off position; refer to Operation
section for description of controls.
5. Close the in-line safety valve between the compressor and the tool.
6. Turn on the air compressor according to the manufacturer's directions and allow it to
build up pressure until it cycles off.
7. adjust the air compressor’s output regulator so that the air output is enough to properly power the
tool, but the output will not exceed the tool's maximum air pressure (90 PsI), at any time.
Adjust the
pressure gradually, while checking the air output gauge to set the right pressure range.
8. Inspect the air connections for leaks.
Repair any leaks found.
9. If the tool will not be used at this time, turn off and detach the air supply, safely discharge any
residual air supply, safely discharge any air pressure, and release the throttle and/or turn the
switch to its OFF position to prevent accidental operation.
note: residual air pressure should not be present after the tool is disconnected from the air
supply.
However, it is a good safety measure to attempt to discharge the tool in a safe fashion after
disconnecting to ensure that all excess air has been discharged.
OPERATINg INSTRuCTIONS
Inspect tool before use, looking for damaged, loose, and missing parts. If any problems are found,
do not use tool until repaired.
1. use hook and loop sand paper (not supplied) for this air reciprocating sander.
Large sheets can be
easily cut to size. The correct size sand paper is 2-7/16" L x ¾" W.
2. The recommended air hose for this air reciprocating sander is at least 3/8
"
(delivering no more
than a maximum of 90 PsI).
The air inlet size is ¼"-18 NPT.
3. Connect an air compressor to an air pressure regulator and set the air pressure to 90 PsI.
4. apply sand paper (not supplied) to the Plate (34).
Cut the sand paper to size if necessary.
5. secure all work pieces with a clamp or vise so pressure will not cause the work piece to
shift its position.
Use the Air Reciprocating Sander with one hand only. Keep your free hand clear
of the sanding head.
6. Connect the air reciprocating sander to the air compressor hose at air regulator assembly (30).
7. Grip the handle (35) with one hand, depress the air Valve lever (28) and the oscillation will begin.
The speed of the oscillation can be controlled by turning the Air Regulator Knob (36). The closer the dial
is to “MAX”, the faster the oscillation will be.
8. allow the motor to reach its full speed before sanding.
9. always keep a safe distance from the sanding Plate (34) while the air reciprocating sander is
operating.
Do not apply excess pressure. If the Sanding Plate (34) slows down while you are sanding,
you are applying too much pressure. Allow the Air Reciprocating Sander to do the job.
10. when finished sanding, release the air Valve lever (28) and allow the air reciprocating sander to
slow to a stop completely before laying the tool down.
11. Disconnect air supply hose, put a few drops of pneumatic tools lubricating oil in the air inlet of the
tool.
Connect the air supply hose. Run the tool for a few seconds only.
12. Disconnect the air hose from the air regulator assembly (30).
13. wipe off the air reciprocating sander with a clean, soft cloth before storing the tool inside,
out of the reach of children.
uSER-mAINTENANCE INSTRuCTIONS
Only a qualified technician must perform procedures not specifically explained in this manual.
to Prevent serious injury from AccidentAl oPerAtion:
Turn off the tool, detach the air supply, safely discharge any residual air pressure in the tool, and release
the throttle and/or turn the switch to it’s OFF position before maintenance, or cleaning procedures.
