Note: These recommendations are for when the length
of the cutting teeth has not been significantly decreased.
Use a flat file and depth gauge tool to adjust the depth
gauge.
1. Put the depth gauge tool above the saw chain. More
information about operation can be found on the
package of the depth gauge tool.
2. Use the flat file on the top of the depth gauge that
extends through the depth gauge tool. The depth
gauge is adjusted correctly when there is no
resistance as the file is pulled along the depth gauge
tool.
To add tension to the saw chain
Note: Examine the tension of a new saw chain
frequently during its running-in period.
1. Turn the guide bar retaining knob counterclockwise
to loosen the guide bar.
2. Lift the top of the guide bar and extend the saw
chain by turning the chain tension knob clockwise.
Tighten the saw chain until it does not hang from the
bottom of the guide bar.
