Chapter 2: System overview
2.1 Main Features
The PM 2012M/PM2012MA are simply-to-operate and reliable instruments in shockproof cases.
The two control buttons are of big size to allow the operator to use protective gloves.
The instruments measure the ambient dose equivalent rate

and the ambient dose
equivalent
Н*(10) of gamma- and X-ray radiation.
The PM2012MA model differs from the PM2012M model in the extended
measurement range of the dose equivalent and the lower main relative error of the
dose equivalent rate measurements (refer to Section 2.2), all the other parameters
being the same.
The PM2012MB model differs from the PM2012M in the lower main relative error
of the dose equivalent and dose equivalent rate measurements, in the extended
measurement range of dose equivalent and opportunity of data transfer via USB
with PC and via Bluetooth channel with smartphones.
The unit also detects vapors emitted from chemical warfare agents (CWA): organophosphorus
compounds (sarin, soman, V-gases) and arsenic-containing compound (lewisite).
If the preset thresholds of the radiation levels (the dose equivalent rate, the dose equivalent),
or/and of the CWA concentration are exceeded, the instrument alerts by audible and visual
alarms.
The unit can operate as long as 150 hours from a fully charged battery. The OLED display,
together with the color coded LED bars and messages, along with audible and visual alerts,
provide all relevant data to the operator.
The operation history is saved in the non-volatile memory of the unit and can be transferred to a
PC by infrared link for data viewing and programming.
Instrument Operation Conditions:
−
ambient air temperature from -10
°
С to +50
°
С (from 14
°
F to 122
°
F);
−
ambient air relative humidity up to 98 % at 35 °
С;
−
atmospheric pressure
from 84 kPa to 106.7 kPa;
−
air dustiness
no more than 0.2 mg/l.
