5.2 Cleaning the gas lines and ionization chamber
CAUTION!
Make sure that the alcohol drops and cotton cloth fibers are not left in the ionization
chamber and inlet after the cleaning procedure.
5.2.1 Cleaning the vapor inlet
The cleaning procedure consists of the following steps:
•
turn the instrument off, remove the battery;
•
match the
mark on the rotating head (2) (Figure 5.1) and the
∆
mark on the unit case;
•
align the unit vertically so that the inlet (1) (Figure 3.2) is facing upward;
•
take the cleaning rod and a strip of cotton cloth (8-10 mm wide and 10-15 mm long) from
the Accessories kit (included with the instrument); pass the strip through the rod slit, wet
with rectified ethanol, squeeze drops;
•
insert the rod into the inlet to a depth of 25-30 mm and wipe the inlet cavity with smooth
circular motions;
•
take a new piece of cloth, repeat the above steps until the cloth remains perfectly clean.
