Adjustments
Oil Pump
If it becomes necessary to increase oil flow into the fuel system, the oil
pump can be adjusted.
1. Before adjusting the oil pump, check the
engine idle RPM and carburetor settings
in the specifications section beginning
on page 107.
2. Loosen the throttle cable jam nut and
turn the adjuster (1) in or out until there
is 1/16
″
- 1/8
″
(.16 - .32 cm) of throttle
lever travel before the throttle slide starts
to open.
3. Place very slight pressure on the throttle
lever (2) until all freeplay is removed
from the throttle cable (to the point
where the carb slide is just starting to
rise).
4. Loosen the locknut (3).
Turn the adjuster in or out
until all freeplay is removed
from the oil pump cable (the
point where the oil pump
arm is just starting to move
off its stop). The pump stop
keeps the pump arm from
rotating any further down
than the idle position so no
visual alignment of marks is
necessary. Tighten the
locknut.
