Operation (Continued)
Note: Digital Indicators are highly versatile tools used in many applications in
machine shops and precision fabricating and testing facilities. The procedure
discussed below (testing brake rotors for true) is only an example, and details
how to use this measuring tool.
1. Push the “On/Off” Button (see Figure 1) to “ON”. Set the Indicator lightly against
a rotor to establish a baseline. Clamp the Indicator in place so that only the
Indicator will move. Push the Zero Button to set the dial to zero. You do not
want the Indicator too tight against the object being measured. There must be
room for the needle to move in and out while under pressure.
2. Spin the rotor to see if it is true. As the rotor spins, the needle will move in and
out. The dial will indicate the degrees of difference in true; the measurements
which are above and below the baseline you established at the beginning. Press
the inch/mm Button to have the Indicator dial read in inches or millimeters. Each
time the button is pressed the reading will switch between inches and mm.
Replacing the Battery
1. Remove the battery cover located directly on the top of the Digital Indicator by
gently prying it off-see Figure 2.
2. Replace the battery with the type specified on page two. Insert into the
compartment with the positive polarity facing the front of the product.
3. Replace the battery cover. Dispose of the old battery in accordance with local
ordinances for proper disposal.
Maintenance
1. Protect the Digital Indicator from rough use. It is susceptible to damage from
being dropped, struck with a test piece, improperly mounted or other abuse.
The precision movement is similar to a watch works, and should be treated
accordingly.
2. Protect the Indicator from exposure to water or corrosive materials. It should
be kept clean and dry. Occasional cleaning with a clean rag will extend its life
and good appearance.
3. Lock it up and store in a dry location to inhibit rust. Keep out of the reach of
children. Before storing the instrument for extended periods of time, take out
battery.
Note: No replacement parts are available for this product.
